Protest Prop 8 With Me, Would Ya?
WHO: Me, you and everyone we know. Hopefully.
WHAT: Peaceful protesting of Proposition Eight.
WHEN: Saturday, November 15th at 10:30am. (LA Facebook Event Page)
WHERE: Check "Join the Impact" to find the location nearest you. I'll be at LA City Hall.
WHY: I'll let Keith explain. Go ahead, click the little play triangle below. It won't bite.
It's okay to be straight, and against hate. Oh snap! Someone bumper-sticker that immediately. Feel free to throw in a Darwin-fish and an Obama logo just to "hip it up" a bit.

Oh Kevin, you're the guy lesbians would go straight for. Thank you for supporting us!
Anything Keith Olbermann says, I am against.
I've never wished I lived in Cali more. I think I read that they are going to start having protests against Cali's Prop 8 even in other states. If one comes remotely near me, I'm there.
Keith Olbermann is a fucking joke. This guy is a scumbag MSNBC is not a news organization it is a fucking left wing propaganda machine run by people that act like teenagers and don't what the fuck they're talking about.
It's not as poetic as he makes it seem lol. Give me a break. Isn't hilarious how he chooses homosexuality as his epic, "eloquent", intensive, bullshit rant, and then proceeds to bash and lie about everything else like the little piece of irrelevant shit he is.
Having said that I think they should have the "right" to marriage just so that they go the fuck away and we can stop talking about it. Its not marriage to me but let them think it is who cares.
Marriage is already a joke nowadays anyway this just adds on to the mix.
Good for you Kevin. I wish i still lived in LA, i would totally be there.
If I had to pick ONE defining rule for the world... above all religions and creeds and laws, it would be this:
Do what you want as long as you aren't hurting anyone
simple, maybe overly so, but if you take that and apply it to war, politics, relationships, and yes, even the gay lifestyle, I think it fits.
the golden rule works well, but I like this even more.
MSNBC may be Leftist, and they are probably just balancing Fox News, but really, people can watch what they want and if there werent people listening, the shows would go away. thats capitalism
saying that EVERYTHING either OLBERMANN or that douche O-REILLY says is "fucking stupid" just puts you on their level, or maybe below... because even president Bush has said one or two good things...
Good luck at the protest Kevin, stay safe
jeff
If I lived in LA, or Cali for that matter, I would definately show up.
As I've said many times over, I hope everyone that voted yes has a gay child just so they can tell them to their face that they don't have the 'right' to marry.
If Jesus, or Allah or whoever you do worship says that two people have to spend their lives eternally alone, then perhaps you should worship someone else.
Oh! I'm going to be at Occidental College that day.. maybe I can convince my friend to go to LA City Hall.
Haha, well I'm protesting today at 4pm in Redlands, CA. It's gonna be awesome!
I personally don't care about the whole "OMG THEY'RE THE SAME GENDER...and they're trying to get married? HELL NO, JESUS HATES YOU!!"
But I say let 'em get married so they can pay marriage penalty.
We gotta do something to get out of this hole the countries in, and every little bit helps.
I don't see why people keep flipping out about gay's getting married.
With some sources saying the divorce rate is near 50% for 2007 its not like marriage is as sacred and holy as it once was anyway...
grrrr no edit option. suppose to be "country's" not "countries"
This is what happens ELIE WIESEL PUT THE WORDS IN MY MOUTH " Fanatics and religionists DO NOT belong in politics and do not judge the people this age of fanaticism scares me kevin does it scare you an age where at the end of the clinton administration we were filled with hope but now these words linger in my mind "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU CHEAT" Discrimination Hate War Pestilence Plague but now with the elction of obama hope is a lingering word that is starting to burn in the back of my brain But when you win one hate only takes the life of another my uncle was gay and he told me to never accept discrimination in any form
but with this we only take one more step back into the religious primitive Neanderthal like forrm of government witch is CONSERVATISM i am not saying republicans were always like this but they have a running track record of messing up the white house from the dollar to our foreign policy and it is is in this time when we need peaceful guidance from those who have past i am Buddhist and in that i am passionate for all sentient beings From you to a snail to even the most low of people but when you want to stomp out someones life and put them into hiding you must feel som Fathom of shame as ghandi said "an eye for an eye Makes the whole world blind " because even though you say "jesus helps you see the truth" you are still blind as a bat Religious fanatics
Not a huge fan of KO, but I tend to agree with him most of the time.
If I were in LA, I'd love to join you.
I found it interesting that Prop 8 got the majority vote in LA county. I wasn't expecting that at all.
This is a legal matter and therefore shouldn't be subject to religious beliefs, "moral" opinions, or uncomfortable feelings about gay sex. Gay marriage amendments are oppressive actions taken by a majority to restrict the rights of a minority. If you support a gay marriage ban, you are spitting on the constitution and every other modern legal institution that is designed to protect humanity from tyranny, oppression, and social injustice.
All supporters of Prop 8 need to be aware of the moral implications of their actions. They are supporting a restriction of rights to a certain group of people with no legal basis for such a restriction. There is NO legal merit to this argument, which is why the courts keep rejecting gay marriage bans. Also, this is why religious zealots have learned that putting oppressive language in the constitution will bind the courts hands from using justice to decide this matter. Think about that for a moment. Passing such an amendment effectively erodes our system of checks and balances, and our system of judicial process.
Make no mistake about it; there is NO reason to oppose gay marriage other than blatant homophobia. Homophobia is not the fear of homosexuals, but rather the fear of having oneself thought of as a homosexual (and therefore of lower social standing). If you voted yes on Prop 8 (or any other gay marriage ban), you voted to support homophobia. Before you support such a horrible, discriminatory act, I implore you, please take an honest moment to question your reasoning and logic. Ask yourself why you feel that this right should be restricted to certain American citizens. If you are honest with yourself, you will realize that there is no justification for such prejudice.
Keith Olberman may be overly verbose and somewhat smug, but that doesn't mean he isn't right.
Oh man, I would so be there if I wasn't all the way out here in San Francisco. But hey Kevin, you're doing a great thing man. Keep up the good work.
Video won't play for me, but I get the idea. Good for you, Kevin, for trying to rally support. Prop 8 is a joke.
Once again, all religions suck, period.
I want to see how someone who voted yes could explain to me how they can justify it... I especially want to see how they compare it to interracial marriage being illegal. I really don't think they could dig themselves out of that hole without revealing themselves to be the prejudiced "person" that they are.
THANK YOU! I am not gay... but I think that they should have the right to marry. I mean... love doesn't happen only between a man and a woman. It can happen between a man and a man, a woman and a woman, hell... even a man and a dog... because I love my dog... but you get my point!
I am religious, straight, and I would never vote for something like Prop 8, so don't stereotype too much douches. ;)
I may be naive, but I have to say this whole thing is sad because in my mind if this can't be stopped in California of all places, there doesn't seem to be very much hope for the rest of the country.
Kevin, I've watched your show since the beginning and you've always made me laugh. I look up to you and more so now. I'm in the position, just like California, where Amendment 2 was accepted and gay civil unions will never take place in Florida. I've been with my boyfriend for 5 years (Oct 31st). I'm only 24, but I would eventually like to engage in a civil union and have the same rights as married people. I could care less about the term "marriage," but I want what comes with the term. They could call it "cowsfuckinginspace" and I'd still do it for the rights.
I honestly thought Amendment 2 and Prop 8 would finally fail. I only have three gay friends, the rest of my friends are straight. You'd be surprised at the people I meet who really enjoy my company and don't even know I'm gay until I tell them. Once I do, their jaws drop and their attitudes totally change towards me.
Thank you so much for your support. It honestly means a great deal to me. I wish I could buy you a fucking Lamborghini.
Man do people hate the gays. I just don't get it. It sounds cliche but life is too short for so much hatred. I may be a layperson and I don't know much about Keith Olberdude but it sure sounds like he "gets it". Anyways, you're doing a great thing for equal rights. You're the man!
im very glad both Olivia and yourself stand up for whats right... thanks for posting Kevin...
The LA one is the only one im near by so i might grab a couple friends who believe in this and go. maybe i'll see you there! :D i hope you wont find it too weird that some fifteen year old girl is coming to say hi to you.
By the way, i'd like to say that i used to think yes on prop 8 because of being catholic, but i sat down and thought to myself all the people who love eachother, and whos to say that it isnt ok. I believe God says it isnt, but who am i to judge. and after a while, i've become pretty sure that they should be able to get married if they want.
i just felt i should say something
I don't think I need to repeat what people have been saying about not being in California. I do know some people out there though I can try and get them to go rally in my place. *Sigh* still doesn't feel right.
You've always been pretty much badass Pereira, but right now you just got a whole lot more awesome.
I live in Vegas so no such luck on going to one of those protests, been seeing 'em on the news a lot recently. But damn I would be down there in a heartbeat if I had the chance.
Can't believe California of all places let that trash bill get this far.
Only a matter of time till that junk gets overturned and Cali sets the precedent for the other states to follow.
Can't wait to see the blog on how it goes!
